Saint Peter’s Nestor and Rider’s Rodrigues Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

EDISON, N.J. (Nov. 4, 2020) – Saint Peter’s Clardo Nestor and Rider’s Makenzie Rodrigues have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Men’s Cross Country/Track
Redshirt sophomore Clardo Nestor was a regular in the cross country/distance circuits in 2019-20. Last fall, he was the top finisher in three of the four events the team competed in highlighted by a top-30 finish at the NJIT Highlander Invite (26:49.2). He went on to post a sub-30-minute 8K time at the MAAC Championships before moving to the indoor track & field season where he starred in mid-distance and sprint relay events. Nestor was the runner-up in the 1000-meter race at the Great Dane Classic and placed in the top-five of the same event at the Yale Opener before helping the Saint Peter's 4x400-meter relay team finish as the runner-up at the MAAC Indoor Championships. That same relay team placed in the top-three at the Millrose Games and qualified for the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston.

Women’s Soccer
Rodrigues was a MAAC All-Rookie Team selection in her freshman year of 2019. She was second on the team with four goals scored and third with 10 points, starting 17 of 18 games played. A year-end MAAC Academic Honor Roll recipient, Rodrigues posted a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in her freshman year.
