Sam Lewis, Fairfield

Graduate student Sam Lewis averaged 30 points per game, highlighted by a school record 39 points including a Fairfield and MAAC record 11 3-pointers as the Stags swept Siena during the first weekend of conference play. After netting a career-high 21 points on Friday night, Lewis had the best game in Fairfield history as she went for 39 points on 11-for-13 shooting from behind the arc. Her 11 3-pointers is tied for sixth most in a NCAA game since 1988. At one point, Lewis swished through nine-straight long range attempts before missing her final shot. For the weekend, Lewis shot 70 percent from deep.
Rookie of the Week
Caitlin Weimar, Marist
Fr., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson
Caitlin Weimar continued to perform well in her rookie season, averaging 12 points and six rebounds on 71 percent shooting in two Marist wins over Canisius. On December 11th, she scored 17 points and hit 7-of-10 shots from the field, and had six boards (five of which were offensive rebounds). Weimar followed that up with seven points and six rebounds on Saturday, Dec. 12
. Weimar, who won MAAC Rookie of the Week last week, scored the most points (29) of any freshman in Head Coach Brian Giorgis' 18-plus years in the first two games of the season. This year, she has hit 66.7 percent of her shots while averaging 12 points per game.
