Iona's Isaiah Ross Named College Sports Madness Mid-Major Player Of The Week

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – After being named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Iona College men's basketball senior guard Isaiah Ross has now been named the College Sports Madness Mid-Major Player of the Week.
Ross averaged 28.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in Iona's first two games of the 2020-21 campaign at Seton Hall and Hofstra. He shot 51.4% from the floor, 52.6% from beyond the arc and 90.9% from the free throw line.
On Saturday, December 5 at Hofstra, Ross scored a career-high 33 points on 10-17 (58.8%) from the floor and 6-for-12 (50.0%) from deep. He also contributed seven rebounds and three assists. Ross' 30+ scoring performance was the first by an Iona player since Rickey McGill netted 30 against Canisius on February 24, 2019. He also hit six three-point field goals for the third time in his career.
On Monday, November 30 against the Pirates, Ross scored 23 points to lead the Gaels. He shot 8-for-18 (44.4%) from the floor and 4-of-7 (57.1%) from deep.
Ross was also named the College Sports Madness MAAC Player of the Week.
Iona returns to the court on Tuesday, December 8 against Morgan State at 3 PM ET. The game is being broadcasted on ESPN3 and fans can also follow along via Live Stats and Iona athletics social media platforms.
