MAAC Announces Geico Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Jacob Buck, Canisius
So., Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili
Jacob Buck allied a career-high six goals in Canisius' season-opening contest at Hobart. He tallied two goals in the first half and added four more during the second half. The sophomore posted the fourth hat trick of his career and tallied five or more points in a game for the sixth time in 17 career games played.
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Dillon Smart, Monmouth
Sr., Thornton, PA/Garnet Valley  
Senior Dillon Smart was all over the field in Monmouth's 11-8 victory over NJIT. The defenseman set a new career-high with eight ground balls, tied his career high with three caused turnovers and registered his first-career assist on Eamon Campbell's eventual game-winning goal.
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Peyton Smith, Marist
Sr., Raleigh, NC/Athens Drive High
Smith, the MAAC Co-Preseason Player of the Year, lived up to his reputation this weekend. He had an outstanding game, helping to lead Marist to a victory over Binghamton. Peyton Smith took all 18 faceoffs for the Red Foxes, and went 15-18 for a .833 face-off percentage. He also added five ground balls.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jake Rosa, St. Bonaventure
Fr., Windsor, Ontario/Kiski
Rosa scored four goals in the first game of his career, which tied the St. Bonaventure program record for goals in a game. Three of Rosa’s goals were unassisted on impressive dives to the net.
