Rider Men and Fairfield Women Remain on Top Heading into Final Day of 2020 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships
Buffalo, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2020) – At the end of the third day of the 2020 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships, the Rider men’s program has increased its point total to 479.5, while the Fairfield women increased their total to 419 points.

Day 3 Highlights
- The Rider Broncs continued their dominance in the pool winning five out of the 13 events on day three. Justin Carey and Matt Lequang placed first in the Men’s 100 Butterfly and Men’s 200 Freestyle, respectively. Kyra Schwerzler placed first in the Women’s 100 Breaststroke and Kayla May took home the top spot in the Women’s 100 Backstroke. Senior Meg Tomayko had a come from behind win to place first in the Women’s 3-Meter Dive.
- The Fairfield women picked up two wins from Morgan Hansen and Maria Nitti in the Women’s 100 Butterfly and Women’s 200 Freestyle, respectively. The Stags also took first in the Women’s 400 Medley led by Alexandra Miko-Rydzaj, Colleen Young, Morgan Hansen and Sara Ostensen.
- The Bryant Bulldogs took home the Men’s 400 Medley Relay for the second year in a row with a time of 3:15.25.
- Monmouth’s Callan Smith took first place in the Men’s 100 Backstroke edging out Matthew Mays and Justin Carey. Smith won the race by two-hundredths of a second.
- Kelsey Childress from Canisius placed first for the Griffs with a time of 4:27.87. This was the first top place finish for the Canisius women’s team.
