Estrada, Hammond Earn Pepsi Zero MAAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors

Player of the Week
Marcus Hammond, Niagara
So., Queens, NY/Cardozo High School
Sophomore guard Marcus Hammond averaged team-highs in points with 21.5 per game, in rebounds with 10.0 per game and in assists with 3.0 per game as he helped steer the Purple Eagles to wins over Canisius and Monmouth. In the win over Canisius, he scored a team-high 17 points, grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and dished out three assists to share team-high honors in a team-leading 33 minutes. Hammond collected his second career double-double with game-highs in points with 26 and in rebounds with a career-high 12 in a game-high 39 minutes against Monmouth. Hammond made a career-high six 3-pointers on nine attempts. Hammond also led Niagara in assists with three. Hammond shot 55.6 percent (15-for-27) from the field and 64.3 (9-for-14) from 3-pointers, which were both team-high numbers in the two games.
 
Rookie of the Week
Aaron Estrada, Saint Peter’s
Fr., Woodbury, NJ/St. Benedict’s
Aaron Estrada led first-place Saint Peter’s in scoring and assists during a 2-0 week. Estrada averaged team-highs of 17.0 points per game and 2.5 assists per game. Against Quinnipiac on Friday, he scored 14 points and picked up two assists. On Sunday, Estrada recorded a career-high 20 points, while handing out three assists versus Fairfield. Additionally, he made 55.6 percent of his three-pointers and added four rebounds and one steal on the week.
