MAAC Announces Geico Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards
Offensive Player of the Week/Rookie of the Week
Kyle Gucwa, Manhattan
Fr., Pottstown, PA/Bishop Shanahan
Gucwa scored six goals on just seven shots, while assisting on another score to lead Manhattan to a 10-8 win over VMI. With Manhattan leading 2-0, he scored three-straight goals to give the Jaspers a five-goal advantage after one period. The freshman followed that up with two goals in the third period, before assisting on the eventual game-winning score. Then, in the fourth quarter, he delivered Manhattan's 10th and final score. He also added a pair of ground balls.
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Nick DiMuccio, Quinnipiac
So., Seekonk, MA/La Salle Academy
DiMuccio made a career-high 21 saves in front of the cage on Saturday for the Bobcats. The sophomore has made 15.67 stops per game so far this year, which ranks No. 6 nationally.
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Brendan Krebs, Manhattan
Jr., East Williston, NY/Chaminade
Krebs earned his first win of the year, making 14 saves with an impressive .636 save percentage, against VMI. The junior registered three saves in the first, second and fourth quarters, while turning away five shots in the third. He also added a ground ball.
