Iona’s Crawford and Manhattan’s Sandford Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Men's Basketball
Senior E.J. Crawford of Iona College’s men’s basketball program has been at the helm of the Maroon & Gold’s resurgence. The Hartford, Connecticut native has three straight games of 20+ points. Crawford is averaging 20.25 points, 4.75 rebounds and 3.25 assists per contest over Iona’s four-game winning streak. He is shooting 44.64 percent from the floor and has hit 28-for-30 from the free throw line over that same stretch.
 
Crawford ranks first in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in scoring, averaging 17.9 points per game. He also ranks top-20 in the conference in rebounding and field goal percentage, free throw percentage and minutes per game.
 
Emily Sandford
Manhattan College
Women’s Lacrosse
Sandford scored one goal, picked up three ground balls, won two draw controls and forced three turnovers on the week for Manhattan. Sandford, a senior, has appeared in 52 games for Manhattan over the course of her career, starting 42 contests and registering 44 points. 
 
A two-time MAAC All-Academic honoree, Sandford will graduate in May with a degree in economics and is currently Vice President of the Manhattan College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
