Moore, Irons, and Walter Collect MAAC Softball Weekly Awards
Player of the Week
Annie Moore, Manhattan
So., Northridge, CA/El Camino Real
Moore led the Jaspers with a .500 batting average over six games this past week, collecting six RBIs on 11 hits, including a double, triple and a home run. Against Cornell on Feb. 23, Moore hit a two-run walk-off home run to deep center field to lift the Jaspers over the Bears 5-3. She went 3-4 in the game with four RBI on the homer and a double. In the Jaspers' win over Merrimack on Feb. 21, Moore went 4-5 with two RBI and three runs, contributing a triple to the Jaspers' offense. In the field, Moore collected eight assists and two putouts in six starts at third base, earning a fielding percentage of 1.000.
Pitcher of the Week
Alyssa Irons, Monmouth
Jr., Rock Creek, OH/Jefferson Area
Irons went 3-0 this weekend with a 0.67 ERA. The junior tossed three complete games, giving up just two earned runs in 21 innings. Irons struck out 23 batters in wins over Furman, Maryland, and Evansville.
Rookie of the Week
Kaelene Walter, Iona
Fr., Vista, CA/Rancho Buena Vista
Kaelene Walter made three starts for the Gaels this week, slashing .417/.417/1.000 across 12 at bats. In her first collegiate action, the rookie hit two homers, a double and drove in five runs. Defensively, she was perfect in the field with seven putouts and nine assists.
