MAAC Announces Hercules Tires as Title Sponsor of Men’s & Women’s Basketball Championships
Atlantic City, N.J. (Feb. 10, 2020) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced today that Hercules Tires, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Tire Distributors, one of the largest independent suppliers of tires in North America, will become the title sponsor of the MAAC Men’s & Women’s Basketball Championships.
The multi-year agreement marks the first title sponsorship for the MAAC Basketball Championships in 10 years. In addition, Hercules Tires will have an integrated marketing presence throughout the year, allowing the brand to connect with MAAC alumni, fans, students, and employees at all conference championship events.
“We’re excited to enter into an official partnership with the MAAC and the national platform this sponsorship gives us to grow our brand visibility by introducing it at a grassroots level to these fans,” said Senior Vice President of Hercules Tires Joshua Simpson in a statement. “By having the ability to have an on-site presence at events throughout the year we’ll have the opportunity to create an authentic relationship and hopefully be top of mind when it’s time to make a tire purchase.”
“The MAAC is excited to align its premier event with a brand that speaks to excellence and service to consumers,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “The MAAC is committed to its own brand of excellence in athletics and academics, and sees great synergy between our brands.”
“Although Hercules Tires has been around since 1952 we are continuously working to grow brand awareness with our target audience, and felt this partnership was a great way to support our initiatives,” said Hercules Tires Director of Marketing Nakia Medlin. “Not only do we get to engage with passionate college basketball fans during championship season, this unique partnership allows us to integrate our brand and engage with MAAC colleges and universities throughout the year to build a connection with not only the young fan base, but also alumni, faculty and the local community as well.”
The 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s & Women’s Basketball Championships will take place March 10, 2020 through March 14, 2020 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Hercules Tires will also be the exclusive tire partner for the conference throughout the year.
The broad-based, multifaceted agreement was negotiated by the MAAC’s multi-media rights partner Van Wagner.
