MAAC Announces Geico Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards
Defensive Player of the Week
Kyle Stofko, Marist
Jr., Churchville, MD/C. Milton Wright
Stofko had his best week as a Red Fox this past week with a great defensive performance against Hartford, in which they held the Hawks to just six goals. He caused two turnovers and grabbed three ground balls against Hartford, and followed that up by causing three more turnovers against Bucknell and scooping up four ground balls.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Jason Intermesoli, Marist
Jr., Sayville, NY/Sayville
Intermesoli played a major role in the Red Foxes’ victory over the Hartford Hawks and ran the offense against Bucknell. For the week, he had nine total points, including a career-high five points against Hartford on Tuesday, on a career-high four goals and an assist. He then added a career-high four assists against Bucknell on Saturday. He also had two ground balls.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Jack Kiernan, Siena
Jr., Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood
Kiernan supplied a five-point day in a 12-5 win over NJIT Saturday. The junior scored three goals with a pair of assists in the Saints’ second win of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Kyle Gucwa, Manhattan
Fr., Pottstown, PA/Bishop Shanahan
Gucwa notched a career-high three assists to go along with three ground balls against Bryant. The freshman leads the Jaspers with 13 points and is tied for the team lead with seven goals.
