2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball All-Championship Teams Announced
Atlantic City, N.J. (March 26, 2020) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced today the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball All-Championship Teams.
The teams are comprised of all seniors and other non-returning players from all MAAC member institutions. The decision to include these players comes in light of the cancellation of the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 championships were officially cancelled on Thursday, March 12 after the first two days of competition were completed.
“The MAAC would like to congratulate all of the student-athletes on the All-Championship Team not only for outstanding seasons, but for outstanding careers,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “The conference felt this was an appropriate recognition for the contributions these players put forward for the success of their teams and the MAAC during the entirety of their time on campus.”
A total of 32 men and 47 women were named to the 2020 Hercules Tires MAAC All-Championship Teams. These players are recognized for their extraordinary efforts throughout this season and throughout their careers.
"We believe that recognizing our seniors with All-Tournament Team selections is the right thing to do” said Marist College Director of Athletics and MAAC Women’s Basketball Committee Chairman Tim Murray. “Our honorees have contributed significantly to their programs in the 2019-20 season and over the course of their careers. We want to provide them with special recognition, particularly in light of the abrupt ending to the championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Siena College Vice President/Director of Athletics and MAAC Men's Basketball Committee Chairman John D'Argenio added "Both the MAAC and the men's basketball committee salute all those seniors and graduate students who committed themselves to their teams and schools in pursuit of a MAAC Championship.”
