Marist Wins 2020 MAAC Esports Overwatch Championship

Edison, N.J. (April 24, 2020) – Marist College defeated Saint Peter’s University 3-0 to claim the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Overwatch Championship, the fourth and final to be completed of the 2020 MAAC Esports Championships presented by New Jersey Army National Guard.
 
The title marks the last of the 2020 MAAC Esports Championships presented by New Jersey Army National Guard, and the first MAAC Overwatch Championship in history.
 
Marist’s Jonah Caro was named the 2020 New Jersey Army National Guard MAAC Overwatch MVP.
 
Marist claimed three of four titles in this year’s championships, winning in Overwatch, League of Legends, and Rocket League. The Red Foxes were runners-up in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate bracket, making all four grand finals of the championships.
 
Marist’s trip to the grand finals began with a 3-2 comeback win over Quinnipiac University. The Red Foxes fell down 0-2 before powering back in three-straight games to advance to the championship matchup. The game was the first of the Overwatch bracket to go into five matches. Saint Peter’s swept Siena College to reach the finals after receiving a first-round bye.
