Niagara Athletics Earns BSN Sports MAAC Community Spotlight Honors
Edison, N.J. (May 15, 2020) – The BSN Sports MAAC Community Spotlight will be a weekly feature of those giving back in an effort to make a difference in their communities. This week, the MAAC would like to highlight Niagara University for their efforts in the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak in March.
The Niagara University Sports Medicine department jumped into action to help the Western New York medical community. The sports medicine staff, led by Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine John Munro, donated medical supplies – 1,000 gloves – to the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
“The university, the athletic department and the community have been very supportive of us throughout the years, so any time we get the chance to give back we love to,” Munro said. “The university’s Vincentian mission is to help the community. As an athletic trainer, I’m always doing things for the student-athletes. Since they are home, any time we can get a chance to go back and do what we do as a profession is rewarding.”
