Saint Peter’s Mason and Siena’s Fernandez Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Baseball
Hunter Mason was recently named Saint Peter's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year during the annual SP’s Awards after posting the highest cumulative grade point average over his four-year career in Jersey City. Mason was the baseball team's most productive hitter during his time as a Peacock, accounting for 86 of Saint Peter's runs scored to lead the team offensively over the past two seasons. Through the shortened 16 game 2020 season, he started in every game, leading the team in plate appearances, home runs, RBIs, multi-hit games, and multi-RBI games. Mason ranked second on Saint Peter’s in batting average, OPS, hits, total bases, and doubles. In the classroom, he is a cyber security major who has been named to a trio of MAAC Academic Honor Rolls and a pair of MAAC Baseball All-Academic teams.
Diana Fernandez
Siena College
Water Polo
One of the most decorated Saints in the history of her program, Fernandez is Siena Water Polo's all-time leader in ejections drawn and wrapped the 2020 season inside the program's top-10 in seven different offensive categories. The Chicago, IL native led the team in scoring as it's only senior this season, netting 37 goals and adding 19 assists for 56 total points. She is one of only two Saints in program history with 200 career goals scored and was a Preseason All-MAAC selection for the second straight year. She recently took home All-American Honorable Mention honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) for the second straight year, standing as the only Saint in program history to earn an All-American nod.
A health science major, Fernandez holds a 3.54 cumulative GPA and has been on both the MAAC All-Academic Team & MAAC Academic Honor Roll in each of the last three seasons. She took home ACWPC All-Academic Accolades with a "Superior" distinction in 2019.
