NEW YORK (May 8, 2020)
 - The Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association has produced a 54-page, full color journal to showcase the 87th annual NIT/MBWA All-Met Haggerty Awards for the 2019-20 season, available now online at the Met Writers website (www.metbasketballwriters.org).

The awards journal is designed to supplant the traditional hard-copy printed program that is distributed each spring at the NIT/MBWA awards dinner, which has been canceled for 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The online edition is fully viewable via the website as well as downloadable.

The online program is chock full of stories about the annual All-Met awards and this past season’s winners, along with more photos than ever before and lots of all-time information. Included, as always, are full-color congratulatory ads from Met area colleges and universities, and from affiliated conferences.

In addition to detailing the background stories for the 2019-20 players and coaches of the year, along with the selections for All-Met teams, the awards journal includes a list of all the past winners of major awards for both men and women in Divisions I, II and III. There are photos and information about the three-time winners of the Haggerty Award itself, the two-time winners and an updated keepsake listing of all the Met area women and men players who scored 2,000 or more points in their collegiate careers.

There is a page which highlights the MBWA Jim O’Connell Sports Communications Scholarship, and both the 2020 and 2019 recipients. The journal includes a year-by-year list of MBWA special awards, several of which are not being presented in 2020.

The booklet concludes with a photo montage of the 2019 All-Met awards dinner.
