Niagara’s Battaglia and Quinnipiac’s Lai Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

In Battaglia’s shortened senior season, he started in all 16 games. He led the MAAC in hits with 19 and in RBIs with 15. He batted .297 with 10 runs scored, five doubles and two homeruns. Battaglia was named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team on May 14. He was the only MAAC baseball player on the Academic All-District I First Team.
Battaglia was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Phi Alpha Theta, a history honor society. He will graduate with a degree in history with a minor in general business and finance.

Women’s Golf
Junior Quinnipiac women's golfer Queenie Lai was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team as well as the NCAA Division I – District I team. The 2020 Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. An accounting major, Lai finished the 2019-20 season with a 75.78 scoring average, the second lowest mark in program history. She also set another program record in Par 5 scoring, setting another program record this season.
