Saint Peter’s Softball Earns BSN Sports MAAC Community Spotlight Honors
Edison, N.J. (June 5, 2020) – The BSN Sports MAAC Community Spotlight is a weekly feature of those giving back in an effort to make a difference in their communities. This week, the MAAC would like to highlight the Saint Peter’s University Softball team.
Throughout the 2019-20 school year, the Peacocks participated in a variety of community service events. The first event the team took part in was with the school’s Campus Closet. Campus Closet is a program within Saint Peter’s University that allows people from the community to donate clothing, which is then organized and hung up by the team in preparation for those in need to come pick it up.
The next community service event Saint Peter’s Softball contributed to was Junkyard Dogs. The Peacocks helped move junk and other unused items into a dumpster, clearing out a storage space. This space was then used by Saint Peter’s Campus Closet and Campus Kitchen programs as storage space.
Lastly, the Peacocks Softball team worked on a community service event which was done in conjunction with the SPU Campus Kitchen program. Campus Kitchen allows people from the community to donate food that is later turned into meals for the hungry. The team helped move all of the donated food into the kitchen in order for the meals to be prepared.
