MAAC Programs Receive NCAA Public Recognition Award
Edison, N.J. (Aug 11, 2020) – A total of 47 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) programs received NCAA Public Recognition Awards after scoring in the top 10 percent of their sports in the NCAA APR Awards Report. The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams.
"The success of our multiyear APR reflects student-athlete dedication to their areas of study away from competition," said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. "We congratulate the head coaches, student-athletes, athletic departments and campuses for the outstanding academic achievements of these teams."
The NCAA recognized nearly 1,400 Division I programs from 326 schools for their academic excellence. Teams earning Public Recognition Awards increased to 1,380, up by 52 from the previous academic year, largely due to an increase in squads with perfect scores. APRs for programs in the top 10 percent ranged from 987 to a perfect 1,000. The number of teams posting perfect scores increased to 1,266, an increase of 52 teams from last year.
