Quinnipiac’s DeWees and Rider’s Toussaint Named Hercules Tires MAAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Award Winners
Player of the Week
Mackenzie DeWees, Quinnipiac
Jr., Westminster, MD/Manchester Valley
DeWees was relentless in leading Quinnipiac to three MAAC victories over the past week. The junior guard averaged 17 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists, while shooting 59.5 percent from the field. She scored in double figures in all three games, including 18 against Marist and 20 in the second game of a back-to-back road series at Saint Peter's.
DeWees runs her season numbers to 12.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, while shooting over 50 percent from the field on the year.
Rookie of the Week
Raphaela Toussaint, Rider
Fr., Kingston, Ontario/Lincoln Prep
Toussaint averaged 9.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this weekend, including her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds on Sunday. For the weekend, she shot 57.1 percent (8-14) from the floor.
