EDISON, NJ (October 13, 2021) – Marist’s Morgan Owens and Monmouth’s Ben Zakowski have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Zakowski played a pivotal role in a 2-0 week for the Monmouth men's soccer team, scoring once and handing out three assists for five points. In a 3-2 home win over Fairfield on Wednesday night, Zakowski assisted on two goals, including the game-tying score in the second half, before putting in the game-winning goal with 13 seconds left in regulation. His two helpers were a season high and tied his career-best mark. The Glen Rock, N.J., native then dished out an assist in Saturday's 2-0 road win over Iona, to help Monmouth extend its conference regular season win streak to four, marking the longest regular season win streak in conference play for the Hawks since 2013.

Owens has been an outstanding student-athlete throughout her four years at Marist. She has been named MAAC Libero of the Week four times in the first seven weeks of the 2021 season, and has earned the honor five times in her career. Owens is a Business Administration major who has been named to the Dean's List in all six of her semesters as a Marist student. She is a three-year team captain.
