EDISON, NJ (Oct. 18, 2021) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced its 2021-22 men’s and women’s basketball television schedule, which will feature six total ESPNU regular season contests. Four out of the six games, will be announced leading up to its scheduled date, while two contests in late February have already been selected.
For four selected Friday nights from January 14 through February 18, any MAAC men’s basketball regular season contest on the docket can be flexed to air on ESPNU as part of the MAAC Wildcard Package.
ESPN and the MAAC will announce the wildcard game 21 days prior to the scheduled game. The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU, giving the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses.
On Thursday, February 24 and Friday, February 25 back-to-back ESPNU games are slated to conclude the MAAC’s scheduled games on ESPNU. Thursday morning’s matchup features a women’s basketball powerhouse game between the Quinnipiac Bobcats and the Marist Red Foxes at 11:00 a.m. The Bobcats will be returning two reigning MAAC Major Award Winners in Mackenzie DeWees (Player of the Year) and Mikala Morris (Defensive Player of the Year) when they travel to Poughkeepsie, NY, and take on the defending MAAC Champions the Red Foxes at McCann Arena. Marist returns the backcourt duo of Sarah Barcello and Trinasia Kennedy, both All-MAAC Third Team selections last season. Both Quinnipiac and Marist have combined to win 15 MAAC Championship titles since 2004.
A men’s contest is on tap for Friday, with the Manhattan Jaspers traveling to Marist at 7:00 p.m. Led by all-conference selections, Ant Nelson and Warren Williams, the Jaspers will be looking to return to the top of the MAAC for the first time since winning back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015. Marist brings back MAAC All-Rookie Team selection Ricardo Wright, as the Red Foxes will look to continue their winning ways over Manhattan having won six of the last seven matchups versus the Jaspers, including a regular season sweep in 2020-21.
Games aired on an ESPN network will also be available via the ESPN App on smartphones, tablets, connected streaming devices or
espn.com/watch. All events will be available for replay on the ESPN App.
