EDISON, NJ (October 20, 2021) – Saint Peter’s’ Angeleyshka Curbelo and Fairfield’s Santiago Gonzalez have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Santiago Gonzalez scored the opening goal – which stood up as the game-winner – in the Stags’ 2-0 shutout of Iona on Saturday evening. Gonzalez has appeared in all 12 matches for the Stags this fall, entering the starting lineup for the last seven contests. The goal against the Gaels was his first of the season and the sixth of his career. Three of his half-dozen goals have been game winners.

Curbelo has been one of the best players this season for the Peacocks. The senior outside hitter has amassed 123 kills and 116 digs for Saint Peter's. She has started in every match this season, including a 3-1 win against Fairleigh Dickinson on September 11, in which she had 13 kills and one assist, totalling 14 points. Curbelo set a career high in blocks (6) on October 10 against Quinnipiac. She also has two double-doubles this season.
