Through the game’s first 80 minutes of play, neither team would score, keeping the contest tied at 0-0. In the 81st minute Kyle Galloway sent the ball to Bernardo Gracindo who fired what would be the game-winning shot into the back of the net to give the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead and win.

Fairfield struck first in the semifinal match, taking a 1-0 lead after Jonathan Filipe served up a feed into the box from a set piece that Thomas Drillien headed into the top corner of the goal. In the 67th minute, up a man, Rider’s Guillermo Pavia Vidal scored the equalizer. The score would hold and send the contest into two overtimes. At minute 109, Pavia Vidal sent a pass to Taner Bay in the box where Bay found the bottom of the net for the game sealing golden goal.

  • Rider outshot Fairfield 16-5 and 9-2 in shots on goal.
  • Francisco Gomez Olano took a team-high four shots, three of which were on goal.
  • Bay, Regis Dulck, and Zaki Aibou each had three shots with all three of Bay’s attempts on target.
  • Bronc goalkeeper Pablo Gatinois needed to make just one save in the winning effort.
  • This is Rider’s seventh trip to the title game, the first since four-straight from 2015-18.

  • In addition to his assist, Filipe posted a team-leading two shots, one on goal.

  • Fairfield closes its season with an overall mark of 7-9-2.
 
The 2021 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship final will take place on Sunday, November 14 in Poughkeepsie, NY with kick off set for 11 a.m.
