Rider Remains Perfect at Home with Lone MAAC Men’s Hoops Win on Sunday

EDISON, NJ (Nov. 15, 2021) – Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball teams closed out the opening week of the season on Sunday with a trio of contests. Rider was the lone victor on the day, improving to 2-0 in Lawrenceville.

Jeremiah Pope led four Broncs in double figures with 14 points and Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson added a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds as the Rider University men's basketball team defeated Delaware State, 63-53, Sunday evening at Alumni Gymnasium. Dwight Murray Jr. (13) and Dimencio Vaughn (12) also eclipsed double figures for the Broncs in the win.

Canisius led nationally ranked St. Bonaventure at the half and by as many as 11-points in the second half, but the Golden Griffins upset bid came up short as Canisius fell 69-60 to the Bonnies on Sunday evening. Senior Malek Green scored a team-high 14 points to go with eight rebounds and two steals, while junior Jacco Fritz recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds and senior Ahamadou Fofana added 10 points and four assists.

For the second time this week, Fairfield University men's basketball went toe-to-toe against a Power 5 host but came up just shy of the upset. Sunday's opponent was traditional New England rival Boston College, and despite four Stags netting double figures, the Eagles came away with the 72-64 decision. Supreme Cook set a new career-high of 16 points to lead the Stags.
