Marist’s Shazer, Niagara’s Parker Earn Hercules Tires Women’s MAAC Basketball Weekly Awards

Shazer had double-doubles in all three of Marist's games in the Red Foxes' 2-1 week. In those three games, she averaged 12.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 assists while shooting .471 from the field. On Tuesday, Marist won at preseason CAA favorite Drexel, and Shazer finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, and had the game-winning basket with the score tied and 12 seconds remaining. On Friday, she tied her career high with 14 points, set a career-high with 13 rebounds, and added two blocks and two steals against American. On Sunday, she finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds, three blocked shots, and two steals while shooting 6-for-9 from the field and 1-for-1 from the free-throw line against Vermont.
 
Rookie of the Week
Aaliyah Parker, Niagara

Aaliyah Parker has had a stellar start to her freshman campaign, averaging 13 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game through the first three games. Her best game of the week came at Oakland on Friday where she recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while also adding seven steals. In the season opener against Loyola, Parker scored 11 points and grabbed six boards. In the loss to Michigan St. the freshman once again reached double-digit points with 10 and grabbed seven caroms. On the week Parker shot 45.5 percent from the field.
