LOUDONVILLE, NY (November 20, 2021) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Volleyball Championship continues today with semifinals matches featuring Canisius College, Fairfield University, Quinnipiac University, and Rider University.

2021 MAAC Volleyball Championship – Semifinal

Fairfield University (22-8, 16-2 MAAC) takes on Canisius College (11-17, 10-8 MAAC) at 4 pm in the MAAC Volleyball Championship Semifinal on ESPN+. The two teams split their regular season matchups this season. Fairfield won in straight sets on September 25 and Canisius took down the Stags in five sets on October 24 to end their 13-game winning streak this season.
In the Griffs win on October 24, Canisius junior Ella Loussia had a game-high 26 kills, senior Ashley Kekeisen had 54 assists and junior libero Bree Long had 23 digs. The Griffs outlasted the Stags, 16-14 in the fifth and final set to claim the victory.
In Fairfield’s victory over Canisius this season, MAAC Player of the Year KJ Johnson and junior Joelle Battles combined for 28 kills in the victory. MAAC Setter of the Year Manuela Nicolini contributed 43 assists and sophomore Kyla Berg had a match-high 17 digs.

2021 MAAC Volleyball Championship – Semifinal

Rider University (18-11, 14-4 MAAC) is set to play Quinnipiac University (11-17, 9-9 MAAC) at 7 pm on ESPN+. The Broncs took both of their previous matchups this season, three sets to one in both.
On September 19, Rider’s Morgan Romano and Tori Schrader combined to tally 33 of the Broncs’ 49 kills. Quinnipiac’s attack posted more kills than Rider, 57-49 led by Aryanah Diaz’s 16 kills. Sophomore Chloe Ka'Ahanui had 44 assists in the match.
In their most recent contest on October 9, Romano had a game-high 16 kills on attack while Anilee Sher had 38 assists to go along with junior libero Pamela Loh’s 15 digs. For the Bobcats, Diaz posted a double-double with 19 assists and 14 digs.
