EDISON, NJ (November 24, 2021) – Fairfield’s Manuela Nicolini and Marist’s Matt Herasme have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Matt Herasme has provided leadership and steady performances for the Marist men's basketball team throughout his career on and off the floor. Herasme is a three-year starter who is known for his intensity, and is often called upon to guard the opposition's best perimeter threat. Through four games this season, he leads the team in minutes (30.0) and rebounds per game (6.8) while shooting .500 from the field and .444 from three-point range. A Business Administration major, Matt is a two-year selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team. He was named to the NABC Honors Court last year.

Manuela Nicolini added to her impressive resume on the court and in the classroom this past week. She was tabbed as the MAAC Setter of the Year for an unprecedented fourth time in addition to earning her fourth All-MAAC First Team nod. On Sunday, she helped lead Fairfield Volleyball to the MAAC Championship – also her fourth – as a member of the MAAC All-Championship Team. Academically, Nicolini picked up her second CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection. Currently enrolled as a graduate student pursuing an M.A. in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling, Nicolini owns a 4.0 grade-point average. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from Fairfield in May of 2020 with a 3.57 GPA.
