EDISON, NJ (Nov. 25, 2021) – All four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men’s basketball teams in action on Wednesday came away with statement wins in out of conference play, headlined by a dominant win from Monmouth over Ivy League foe Princeton, a wild victory by Rider over Bucknell and comeback wins from Canisius and Fairfield at home.

Canisius scored its second straight home victory in 40 hours, after junior forward Jacco Fritz hit one-of-two free-throws with 1.1 seconds left on the clock to help the Golden Griffins erase a three-point deficit in the game's closing minute to cap off a 76-75 victory over Coppin State in the final game of the Cerebro Sports Lake Erie Challenge Wednesday afternoon at the Koessler Athletic Center. Armon Harried ended the day with a game-high 22 points for Canisius and Malek Green posted a double-double off the bench with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

The Fairfield University men's basketball team erased a double-digit second-half deficit and rallied for an 83-78 overtime win over Stony Brook at Webster Bank Arena on Wednesday afternoon. The Stags trailed by 11 points with 14 minutes remaining in regulation before making their comeback. Jake Wojcik finished the game with a team-high 24 points while Supreme Cook registered 16 points and nine rebounds, Taj Benning added 14 points, and TJ Long came off the bench to contribute 11 points to represent Fairfield's four double-digit scorers.

Monmouth men's basketball won its fourth straight on Wednesday night, defeating Princeton, 76-64 in West Long Branch. The Hawks locked down the Tigers defensively, allowing just 18 second-half points leading to the program’s best start since 1990. George Papas led Monmouth with 20 points, while Shavar Reynolds (16) and Sam Chaput (10) both scored in double figures as well.

Rider men's basketball defeated Bucknell, 85-79, in the Cancun Challenge Mayan Division Consolation Game Wednesday afternoon at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya Convention Center, snapping a three-game skid. Mervin James, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, scored a team-high 23 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead five Broncs in double-figures. Also eclipsing double digits were Dimencio Vaughn (16), Corey McKeithan (12), Dwight Murray Jr. (12) and Allen Powell (10).
