The Canisius women’s basketball team was defeated last night at the University at Albany, 65-46. Full-court pressure was employed by the Griffs leading to an 8-0 run late in the third quarter, trimming the Great Danes lead to single digits at 49-40, but UAlbany outscored Canisius in the final quarter, 14-6, to close out the contest. Sophomore guard Dani Haskell scored 11 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Senior guard Erika Joseph added 10 points with three assists for the Griffs. Ella Vaatanen scored eight points, her highest total in a Griffs uniform thus far since arriving in Buffalo. Canisius’ next contest is at home against Saint Peter’s on Sunday to open up their conference slate.
