MAAC Retains Current Rescheduling Policy

EDISON, NJ (Dec. 22, 2021) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Committee on Athletic Administration met on Wednesday morning and reaffirmed the Rescheduling Policy as announced on August 11, 2021.

The approved policy states the following:

For the 2021-22 AY all cancelled games related to a team not being able to field a team because of COVID issues including quarantines will be considered a forfeit and will not be rescheduled. Forfeited games are recorded as a loss for the team unable to compete, and as a win for the opponent.

The committee reinstated the approved minimum player threshold, used during the 2020-21 season, which was approved by the MAAC Presidents on November 6, 2020:
Approved the threshold for the minimum number of players available for the game to be contested as 8 counter (scholarship) players and at least one coach.

The conference and its membership will be constantly monitoring the COVID-19 environment as it pertains to rescheduling games.

Per the NCAA statistics policy:

If a league declares a forfeit it does not impact statistics, including coaching records, nor does it affect the overall won-lost records of the teams involved. A conference can, for the purposes of establishing seeding for a conference tournament or league standings in general, alter the conference won-lost records of teams involved with a game that the league labels a forfeit (even if the national office officially calls it a no contest).

The MAAC Committee on Athletic Administration will reconvene on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 to review the policy.
