EDISON, NJ (December 8, 2021) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) had five men’s soccer players named
2021 NCAA Division I Men’s All-Region including Marist’s Huib Achterkamp, Stefan Copetti, Henrique Cruz, Niagara’s Jelldrik Dallman, and Rider’s Zaki Alibou.
Graduate defender Achterkamp was named to the 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s All-Region Third Team after being named the 2021 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. He started all 22 games for the Red Foxes and helped contribute four game-winners for the 2021 MAAC Champions.
Junior forward Stefan Copetti was also named to the third team after being named to the All-MAAC First Team in 2021. The Toronto, Ontario native recorded 21 points on nine goals and three assists in all 22 games to lead the Red Foxes.
Junior midfielder Henrique Cruz was also selected to the third team after also being selected to the All-MAAC First Team this season. Cruz totaled nine points on three goals and three assists to help lead the Red Foxes to their first MAAC Championship in over a decade.
Niagara junior forward Jelldrik Dallmann was selected to the third team after a stellar first season for the Purple Eagles. Dallmann led the NCAA in goals per game (1.08), points per game (2.23) and finished second in the country with 14 goals. The Kuhstedt, Germany native led the MAAC in points (29) and finished tied for second with four game-winning goals. Dallmann was honored as an All-MAAC First Team selection. Dallmann is the first Purple Eagle to score 14 goals since the 1970s.
Rider senior forward Zaki Alibou was named to the 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s All-Region Second Team after earning All-MAAC honors as well. The Meknes, Morocco native led the Broncs in points (25), goals (10), and finished second in assists (5).
