LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena College Vice President and Director of Athletics John D'Argenio has announced that the volleyball program will be heading in a new direction. Vilis Ozols will not return as head coach of the Saints in 2022.
 
"We thank Vilis for his service to Siena and for his commitment to our volleyball program," said D'Argenio. "He worked collaboratively across the department, and was very passionate about both the sport and the academic mission of the College. We will look to build upon the talented student athletes that he recruited to Siena, and add to our nine MAAC Championships. We wish Vilis all the best in his future endeavors."
 
Ozols recently completed his fourth season as head coach of Siena Volleyball. He led the Saints to the MAAC Quarterfinals last month, and developed MAAC All-Rookie Team selection Olga Sawinska.
 
In the classroom, Siena earned American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Awards each of the past two seasons, and led all Siena Athletics programs with a 3.68 team GPA during the Spring 2021 semester.
 
Prior to his tenure at Siena, Ozols was the head coach at Niagara University for five seasons (2013-17).
 
A nationwide search for the next head coach of the Siena College Volleyball program is underway.
