Men's Runner of the Week
Jack O’Leary, Iona
Gr., Killucan, Ireland/Clongowes Wood College
Jack O'Leary placed first at the Spider Patriot Classic five-mile race with a time of 24:22.4. O'Leary led a cascade of top-10 finishers (five in total). The Maroon & Gold won the event as a team with 24 team points.
 
Iona was racing against numerous other regionally ranked USTFCCCA teams. The Gaels showed their metal as the top-ranked team by beating both UMass Lowell and Connecticut, who are ranked second and eighth, respectively in the Northeast Region. Others ranked teams competing in the Spider Patriot Classic were Saint Joseph's (ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region), William & Mary (13th in the Southeast Region), and Temple (4th in the Mid-Atlantic Region).
 
Iona is ranked No. 14 in the USTFCCCA National Poll and No. 1 in the Northeast Region.
 
Women's Runner of the Week
Allie Pierontoni, Monmouth
Fr., Woolwich, NJ/Kingsway Regional
Allie Pierontoni led the Hawks individually, finishing in first place out of 56 runners with a time of 18:22.9. Pierontoni helped lead Monmouth's women's team to a second-place finish at the Jasper Winter XC Invitational, which had five competing teams.
