Marist Picked as 2021 MAAC Women’s Rowing Favorites
EDISON, NJ (Feb. 25, 2021) – Marist College has been picked as the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s rowing preseason favorite, as voted on by the league’s head coaches. Marist received six out of 10 first place votes after winning the last completed MAAC Rowing Championship in 2019.
Jacksonville University followed closely in second place with 94 points by receiving four out of 10 first place votes. The Dolphins last won the MAAC Championship in 2018, as they look to win their elusive 50
th MAAC Rowing Championship this season.
Stetson University, Drake University and Robert Morris University round out the top five with 77, 69 and 51 points respectively. No team outside of Marist or Jacksonville has won the MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship since Drake did so in 2012. The sixth, seventh and eighth place spots are held by Canisius College, Fairfield University and Manhattan College. Sacred Heart University finished in ninth, followed by Iona College.
