MAAC Women’s Basketball Schedule Update
EDISON, N.J. (Feb. 4, 2021) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced changes in the 2020-21 women’s basketball conference schedule due to COVID-19 disruptions. In addition, Canisius College Athletics has officially announced that the Griffs’ women’s basketball program will forego the remainder of the season. The full release from the Griffs can be found

Among the changes to the women’s basketball schedule, this Saturday’s ESPNU game between Siena and Manhattan will now feature Saint Peter’s making the trip to Riverdale. The change comes as a result of Siena falling below the minimum threshold of players needed to compete. The matchup between the Jaspers and Peacocks will count as a non-conference game. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
“As the MAAC heads into the final third of the regular season, the focus remains on scheduling games to ensure all teams can reach the NCAA minimum of 13,” noted MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “It is unlikely all teams will play 20 conference games and the MAAC will not attempt to use single mid-week games to reach that number. Instead, mid-week games will be used strategically to assist in having all teams reach the NCAA AQ minimum and to match select teams that could possibly clarify tie-breaking scenarios for MAAC Championship seeding purposes.”
