Saint Peter’s and Fairfield Advance to the Women's MAAC Semifinals
Atlantic City, N.J. (March 11, 2021) – The 2021 Hercules Tires MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship Semifinals are now set. No. 3 seed Saint Peter’s led for over 24 minutes of the game and took down No. 6 Iona. No. 4 Fairfield holds off No. 5 Manhattan as the Stags advance to the semifinals.

Key Moments:
- With a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, Saint Peter’s Aija James was the Tropicana Player of the Game.
- Sky Castro's 17 rebounds are a new career high for the rookie and mark the highest single-game rebounding total of any Peacock this season.
- Both Binta Salawu and Taiah Thornton joined James in double-digit scoring finishing with 14 points and 11 points, each.
Notables:
- Peacocks secure program’s first MAAC semifinal appearance since 2008.
- Saint Peter’s dominate the glass with 50 rebounds. This lead the Peacocks to 18 second-chance points, thanks to 27 offensive rebounds.
- James now holds a team-leading seven double-double outings on the year.
- The win also marks Saint Peter's third victory over Iona this season after the Peacocks swept the regular season series against the Gaels on Dec. 12-13.

Key Moments:
- With a game high 21 points, Lou Lopez-Senechal was the Tropicana Player of the Game. This marks the seventh game this season that she has eclipsed the 20-point plateau.
- The Stags held the Jaspers to just 25 percent shooting and a 13 percent clip from deep. That mark included limiting the Jaspers to just five field goals in the first half.
- Fairfield got strong contributions from Sam Lewis and Katie Armstrong. Lewis finished with 11 points and Katie Armstrong grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Stags.
Notables:
- The Jaspers missed 16-straight shots and had four turnovers. It was the second time in the last three games that the Stags had allowed just one field goal in the first quarter (Monmouth).
- This is the 24th time that the Stags have advanced to the MAAC Semifinals in program history.
- Courtney Warley filled up the stat sheet for the Jaspers scoring 11 point with seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

Tomorrow night the Stags will take on the No.1 seed Marist in the Semifinals of the Hercules MAAC Women’s Championships Tournament. The semifinal match will be at 11:00 a.m., and will air on ESPN+.
