MAAC and Electronic Gaming Federation to Host Three Esports Championships This Weekend
Nine MAAC Schools Participating in Overwatch, Rocket League and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate from March 19-21; Competitions to Be Live on EGF’s Twitch Channels, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
EDISON, NJ (Mar. 18, 2021)- The Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF), the national governing body for formalized collegiate D1 esports and high school level leagues, will host three championships of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships this weekend, the largest competitive esports endeavor for the MAAC in its history.
Nine MAAC schools will be participating this weekend in SSBU, Overwatch and Rocket League, which can be followed on all EGF platforms including Twitch. All games of the 2021 MAAC Esports Championships can be streamed live at Twitch.tv/officialEGF. The competitions begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19 and run through the championships beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 21.
“The MAAC has been one of the leaders in progressive integration of esports across all of its member schools, and we are proud to be able to host their championships this weekend as a valued partner,” said Tyler Schrodt, EGF Founder. “They have set a strong bar for what collegiate esports will be across the country in the coming years.”
“We are excited to continue to expand our esports offerings with these championships, and the EGF has been a great partner as we grow together,” MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor said. “This is an opportunity still in its early stages for our students, and it is great to be able to be in on the ground floor of this new, dynamic way to engage our schools.”
