MAAC Announces Kap7 Water Polo Weekly Award Winners

Offensive Player of the Week
Sydney Shettleroe, Virginia Military
So., Los Angeles, Calif.
Shettleroe broke the single-match school record with nine goals in Saturday's 15-5 victory against Mount St. Mary's University. In three matches last week, she had 15 goals and two assists as the Keydets went 2-1 at Villanova University.
 
Shettleroe leads the Keydets in both goals (22) and points (28) in six matches on the young season. She has added six steals and eight draw exclusions.
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Sophie Appler, La Salle
So., Reading, Pa.
Appler led the team in blocks (8) and steals (7), also tallying three exclusions earned as La Salle went 3-2, tying its program record for most wins in a weekend. In an upset double overtime victory over #21 Bucknell to open the season, Appler tied a program record with four blocks. She also led the team's press but did not commit a foul in four of the five games played.
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Abigail Shelby, Villanova
Fr., Bellaire, Texas / St. Agnes Academy
Shelby registered 27 saves and 3 steals in 3 games that lead to 2 wins and 1 loss.
 
Rookie of the Week
Hannah Woren, La Salle
Fr., Aurora, Colo.
Woren made an immediate impact in her first collegiate game, scoring once (on only one shot) and assisting once in a double overtime upset of #21 Bucknell. She tallied a point in four of the five games played, finishing with three goals and four assists as La Salle went 3-2. Woren also swiped four steals. Wored recorded her first multi-goal game with a brace and two steals in an 18-8 win over Mount St. Mary's.
