Fairfield’s Seeger, Gardiner and Canisius’ Long Named Molten MAAC Volleyball Weekly Award Winners
Player of the Week
Laura Seeger, Fairfield
Jr., Our Lady of Mercy/ Penfield, N.Y.
Laura Seeger paced the Fairfield attack on the outside in an unbeaten week. She hit .316 from the pins, sending home 3.30 kills per set. She also had a hand in four blocks, including a solo send-back, to boost her total to 3.55 points per frame.
Libero of the Week
Bree Long, Canisius
So., Temperance, Mich./ Bedford
Sophomore Bree Long helped Canisius go 3-1 in two doubleheaders against Rider and Iona, averaging 5.93 digs per set, in 15 total sets played. Long recorded at least 20 digs in all four matches for Canisius during the past week. The Temperance, Mich., native is leading Canisius this season with 146 digs, as Long has recorded double-digit digs in seven of the Griffs eight contests, including five matches hitting the 20-plus mark.
Rookie of the Week
Ella Gardiner, Fairfield
Fr., Christchurch, New Zealand/ San Clemente (Calif.)
Ella Gardiner hit .440 from the middle in an unbeaten week for the Stags. She sent home 1.86 kills per set and also had a hand in five blocks to round out her scoring total at 2.21 per set. Gardiner added an assist and two digs is seven sets of work.
