Atlantic City, N.J. (March 9, 2021) – Siena University and Rider University opened up first round action with wins to advance to the Quarterfinals.

Key Moments:
  • With 26 points and four assists, Isis Young was the day's first Tropicana Player of the Game.
  • Siena led for 26:50 minutes of the game.
  • The Saints lead Niagara 24 to 6 on fast break points
  • Isis Young and senior Rayshel Brown combined for 47 total points.
  • Niagara was led by a 23 point effort from sophomore Angel Parker, who also had five assists and four rebounds.
 Notables:
  • It is the second straight year the Saints were able to grab a first round win, now making them 9-3 overall in first round games.
  • Siena won the offensive battle in the paint, scoring a season-high 44 points down low and .490 shooting percentage from the floor.
  • Junior Tobulayefa Watts would become the seventh player in program history to eclipse the 100 blocks plateau in a career.

Key Moments:
  • With a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds Maya Hyacienth was the Tropicana Player of the Game
  • This was Hyacienth’s first career double-double
  • The Broncs receive 21 points off of the bench with Daija Moses scoring 10 of those.
  • Monmouth out rebounded the Broncs 51 to 32 with 29 of those being on the offensive glass.
  • The two teams combined for 40 turnovers.
 Notables:
  • The game was Rider's first since February 14.
  • The Broncs have now won at least one game at the MAAC Championship five straight years.
  • Rider has won seven straight games and 10 of the last 11 contests against Monmouth.

Tomorrow the Broncs take on the No. 2 seed Quinnipiac Bobcats at 2:30pm. The two teams split the season series during the regular season.
