Quinnipiac’s DiMuccio, George, and Donnery and Canisius’ Kozack Earn Hercules Tires Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards
Defensive Player of the Week
Nick DiMuccio, Quinnipiac
Jr., Seekonk, MA/La Salle Academy
DiMuccio made 25 saves over a pair of home wins this past week. He saved 16 shots on Wednesday in a 7-5 win over Siena, then made nine stops against Manhattan in an overtime win on Saturday. He also picked up eight ground balls for the Bobcats. DiMuccio currently ranks fifth nationally in save percentage (.600)
Offensive Player of the Week
Demitri George, Quinnipiac
Jr., West Simsbury, CT/Westminster
George (MAAC's leader in FO%) was an impressive 41-of-45 (91.1%) in the face-off X for the Bobcats over two wins last week, while also scoring three times. The Bobcats' junior won 14-15 FO attempts on Wednesday in a win over Siena, then won 27-30 battles in the circle against Manhattan on Saturday. He scored a goal vs. Siena, and scored twice in an overtime win against Manhattan. George currently ranks second in the nation in FO%, and seventh in ground balls per game.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Dylan Donnery, Quinnipiac
Fr., Hawthorne, NY/The Gunnery
Donnery scored four goals to go along with an assist over two games this past week. He scored once vs. Siena on Wednesday, then scored three times (including the overtime game-winner) and added an assist on Saturday vs. Manhattan. Donnery scored Quinnipiac’s game-winning goal in the second overtime on Saturday against the Jaspers.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Keegan Kozack, Canisius
Fr., Delta, Canada/Blue Ridge Secondary
Recorded a hat trick in both games of an impromptu home-and-home series against Little Three rival St. Bonaventure last week. Three of his six goals during the two-game set came in man-up situations. In the series opener on April 6, Kozack scored three times, including the game-winning goal, in an 11-9 victory over the visiting Bonnies. In the team's second meeting of the week, Kozack once again posted a hat trick that included a pair of man-up markers, in a 12-11 setback in Olean on April 11.
