The MAAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's (SAAC) Social Justice Committee today released the following statement:

"The death of twenty year-old Daunte Wright at the hands of the Brooklyn Center police puts us face to face with the racism and systematic bias that continues to plague our country. This horrific event has sparked a rise to continue to push for heavily-enforced police reform, and it is imperative that as we continue to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, we also combat the longstanding fight with racism in its entirety. As a committee, we will continue to pursue the conversation, inform our communities, and make an impact at our institutions."
