Marist’s Phippen and Monmouth’s Gomez Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week
EDISON, N.J. (Apr. 21, 2021) – Marist’s Calista Phippen and Monmouth’s Julian Gomez have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Calista Phippen has done an outstanding job on the field and in the classroom in her three years at Marist. In her freshman year, Phippen was named an NFCA Top 25 Freshman, Co-MAAC Rookie of the Year, and First Team All-MAAC. She has a career record of 24-10, and her 1.81 ERA ranks second in program history.
Phippen was named CoSIDA Academic All-District and Marist's Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement's Student-Athlete of the Month in 2020. She is a Computer Science and Cyber Security major, with a minor in Information Technology & Systems. She has made the Dean's List in all five of her semesters at Marist. Phippen has also gained internship experience with website design in 2019 and as a Back End Software Developer at IBM in 2020.
Julian Gomez
Monmouth University
Men’s Soccer
Monmouth men's soccer forward Julian Gomez scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute of the MAAC Championship game. He was later named MAAC Championship Most Valuable Player.
Gomez scored a goal in five straight games to end the season, and will complete in the first round of the NCAA Tournament next Thursday against Bowling Green.
