MAAC Announces 2021 Women’s Tennis Major Award Winners and All-MAAC Teams

EDISON, NJ (April 23, 2021) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced the 2021 Women’s Tennis Major Award Winners and All-MAAC Teams.
 
The 2021 MAAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year is Claire Koscielski of Quinnipiac University. The sophomore who did not see any action in 2019-20 finished the season 9-3, 5-1 in the MAAC, and went 5-3 from the No. 1 spot and 4-0 in the No. 2 spot. Koscielski also earned the All-MAAC First Team honors in the No. 1 spot.
 
The 2021 MAAC Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Year is Quinnipiac’s Madison Williams. The first year finished with an overall record of 9-3 and was a perfect 6-0 in the MAAC, competing from the No. 4 spot all season. Williams earned All-MAAC First Team honors in the No. 4 spot in singles.
 
Quinnipiac finished their sweep of the major awards as the Bobcats Head Coach Paula Miller was named the 2021 BSN Sports Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year. Miller is now a five-time MAAC Coach of the Year. She helped Quinnipiac go 8-4 this season and perfect 6-0 in the MAAC. The Bobcats won their MAAC matches by a combined score of 35-7 and have now won 49 consecutive MAAC regular season matches.
 
The All-MAAC First Team was led by Quinnipiac University taking home seven selection honors. On the singles side, Koscielski earned the No. 1 spot, Kamilla Nella earned the No. 2 spot, Dominique Vasile took home the No. 3 spot, Williams in the No. 4 spot. Earning a share of the No. 5 spot is Quinnipiac’s Payton Bradley and Monmouth’s Lenien Jamir. Fairfield’s Anna Komer took home the final singles No. 6 spot. In doubles Fairfield’s Scarlett Hutchison and Francesca Karman earned the No. 1 spot. Quinnipiac would take the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, with Payton Bradley & Madison Williams and Dominque Vasile and Stephanie Yanosov earning those honors respectively.
 
The All-MAAC Second Team has representatives from Siena, Niagara, Monmouth and Quinnipiac. Siena’s Meagan Brown earned the No. 1 spot in singles. On the rest of the singles side, Siena’s Kylie Mullaney and Niagara’s Elena Mayet earned a share of the No. 2. Sharing No. 3 spot honors is Monmouth’s Zoe Klapman and Fairfield’s Katarina Plumtree. Niagara’s Jaida Borg took home the No. 4 spot and Siena’s Emma Boggiali earned the No. 5 spot. Earning the final singles No. 6 spot is Quinnipiac’s Yanosov. On the doubles side Siena’s Brown and Mullaney were selected to the No. 1 spot. Fairfield’s Amanda Nowak and Plumtree were named to the No. 2 spot and Siena’s Boggiali and Maanya Viswanath earned the No. 3 spot.  
 
The 2021 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Championship will be held at Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, New Jersey. Semifinal action begins Saturday, April 24 with No. 1 Monmouth taking on No. 4 Marist and No. 2 Fairfield taking on No. 3 Quinnipiac. Both men’s semifinal matches are set to start at 10:00 a.m. The finals will take place the day after, April 25, with the women’s match beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the men’s match starting at 10:00 a.m. For more information on the 2020-21 MAAC Tennis Championships, visit maacsports.com/tennis.
