EDISON, NJ (April 26, 2021) – The four teams that will compete for the 2021 MAAC Water Polo Championship are Long Island University, Marist College, Virginia Military Institute, and La Salle University.
 
LIU (7-0, 7-0 MAAC) is the No. 1 seed from the Blue Division after completing their season undefeated and being named the MAAC Regular Season Champions. Marist (6-2, 6-2 MAAC) will be the No. 1 seed from the Red Division. The No. 2 seeds from Red and Blue Divisions are VMI (6-11, 3-6 MAAC) and La Salle (11-4, 6-2) respectively.
 
The first semifinal will be No. 1 LIU versus No. 4 VMI at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 1. In their only regular season matchup this season, LIU defeated VMI by a score of 21-12. For the Sharks, Jessica Dean led the team with seven goals and four assists, while Diba Peiravani had five goals and two assists. Elena Camarena had five goals and five assists, and Jeannet Garcia had three goals. For the Keydets, Red-shirt junior McKenna Imset scored seven times while Catherine and Rachel Ahumada each had a goal and three assists. Rachel Ahumada had three drawn exclusions as well.
 
No. 1 Marist and No. 2 La Salle will follow at 3 p.m. in the second semifinal game. Due to COVID-19 complications, Marist forfeited their only matchup against La Salle this season.  
 
The Championship Game will take place on Sunday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m.
