Monmouth's Hammond Named to All-Met Second Team
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Basketball's Deion Hammond (Mitchellville, MD/Riverdale Baptist School) was named to the All-Met Second Team by the Met Basketball Writers Association, the organization announced on Tuesday. Hammond earns a spot on the team for the second year in a row.
The Met Basketball Writers Association, which encompasses 72 Met-Area college men's and women's teams across Divisions I, II and III, named Hammond to its second team for the second year in a row. Hammond is the third Hawk ever to earn All-Met honors, joining Justin Robinson and Micah Seaborn, with Hammond and Robinson as the only pair to earn honors twice.
Hammond was a unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team this season, and was honored by the NABC as an All-District First Teamer. The guard led MU in scoring and was second in the conference, earning a unanimous spot on the league's First Team. He set the program mark for made three pointers this year, and became one of five Hawks at the Division I level to top the 1,600-point mark.
Recently, Hammond announced his intentions to play professional basketball.
