Quinnipiac Headed for NCAA Women’s Golf Regional in Baton Rouge; Hartford’s Loza to Compete in Columbus Regional
EDISON, N.J. (Apr. 29, 2021) – The 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Golf Champion, Quinnipiac University, is headed for Baton Rouge, Louisiana as announced on Wednesday on the NCAA Women’s Golf Selection Show. The Baton Rouge Regional will be played May 10-12, at the University Club and will be hosted by LSU.
The Bobcats won their third MAAC Women’s Golf Championship last week, shooting a 750 (+30) over the three-round championship. Quinnipiac finished with all five golfers within the top 20, three of which made the top 10 and the 2021 Women’s Golf All-MAAC Team.
Leeyen Peralta had the Bobcats’ best performance as she finished in a tie for second place, shooting a 184 (+4). Kaylee Sakoda and Elena Ybarra joined Peralta in the top-10 as they shot 187 (+7) and 192 (+12), respectively.
The 2021 MAAC Women’s Golf Individual Champion, Maria Loza of Hartford University, will travel to Columbus, Ohio for the NCAA Women’s Golf Regional Round. Loza will compete as an individual in the Columbus Regional with five other collegiate golfers. The senior shot 181 (+1) at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course last week, finishing the tournament as the top individual women’s golfer by three strokes.
