Game Times Announced for 2021 MAAC Softball Championship

The Canisius athletic department, in conjunction with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), announced on Monday the official game times for the next round of the 2021 MAAC Softball Championship, which will be held at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, N.Y., May 13-15.
 
The four-team, double-elimination portion of the tournament will start Thursday, May 13, at noon, when the second-seeded Canisius Golden Griffins play host to No. 8 seed Marist. The second game on Thursday, which will feature fourth-seeded Fairfield and sixth-seeded Manhattan, will begin at 3 p.m.
 
Friday's schedule will consist of three game, starting with the two losing teams from Thursday's action taking the field at 11 a.m., in the tournament's first elimination game. Game No. 4 and Game No. 5 of the tournament will be played at 2 p.m., and 5 p.m.
 
Championship Saturday will start at noon, with an if necessary championship game set for 2:30 p.m. The winner of the MAAC Softball Championship tournament will earn the conference's automatic berth to the 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Championship field.
 
This will mark the 10th time in program history where Canisius has hosted the MAAC Softball Championship, and it is the first occasion since the 2015 tournament was played at the Demske Sports Complex. Last weekend, Canisius hosted seventh-seeded Rider in the tournament's best-of-three round, with the Griffs advancing after taking two-of-three from the Broncs, capped by Sunday's 7-5 comeback victory.
 
All of the MAAC Softball Championship games will be broadcast live on ESPN3/ESPN+. Broadcast information will be shared as it becomes available.

Thursday, May 13
Game 1: Canisius vs. Marist – 12 p.m.
Game 2: Fairfield vs. Manhattan – 3 p.m.
 
Friday, May 14
Game 3: Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser – 11 a.m. (losing team eliminated)
Game 4: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner – 2 p.m.
Game 5: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 loser – 5 p.m. (losing team eliminated)
 
Saturday, May 15
Game 6: Game 4 winner vs. Game 5 winner – 12 p.m.
Game 7: if necessary – 2:30 p.m.
