2021 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Tournament – First Round

Boston College (14-3, 8-2 ACC) built a 10-goal halftime lead with 13 scored in the first 30 minutes of play, as the fourth-seeded Eagles defeated Fairfield University (13-2, 10-1 MAAC) by a final score of 19-6 in the First Round of the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The Stags, making their fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament, saw five players register at least one goal, with midfielder Meaghan Graham leading the way with two for the afternoon. Fairfield concludes the 2021 season having captured their third consecutive MAAC Championship, and sixth overall.
Boston College advances to the Second Round of NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Tournament, where they will host Temple University on Sunday, May 16.
Fairfield Notes
- Graham (2g, 1a) and Diana DeVita (1g, 2a) both recorded three points to lead Fairfield. They were also the only players with assists for the Stags.
- Graham’s four shots on goal were a team high.
- Along with DeVita, Maggie Fort, Kelly Horning, and Elizabeth Rowe each recorded one goal for Fairfield.
- Reagan Bossolina and Maggie Reynolds tied for the game-high in ground balls with three each.
- Four players forced at least one turnover during the game, with Bossolina and Horning topping the team with two each.
- Horning, Rowe, and Nicollette LaVista all tallied a team-high two draw controls.
- Fairfield had the edge in ground balls over BC, 11-10.
